In today’s data-driven world, managing and optimizing your Data Cloud usage is crucial for maintaining efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Digital Wallet helps you succeed in this endeavor by giving you quick access to data about usage and credit consumption, helping you track resource usage and investigate anomalies. I’m going to tell you how to access the Salesforce Digital Wallet, check your usage, use the latest features and additional information on upcoming features.
Digital Wallet Basics
Before we go any further, let’s make sure we’re speaking the same language. There are three terms you should understand.
- Digital Wallet is a service in Salesforce that gives you near-real time information about credit consumption for different types of data services and data storage.
- Consumption cards in Digital Wallet group your usage into separate sets of consumption cards. Each consumption card is a distinct set of credits.
- Usage types within each consumption card are categories of usage generated by specific activities, such as ingesting data into Data Cloud, interacting with an AI Agent, or using up data storage space.
You can access Digital Wallet on the Consumption Cards tab. To find it, go to Your Account or search for Consumption Cards in the app manager.
Admins have access to Digital Wallet by default. They can grant Digital Wallet access to other users by assigning them the View Consumption permission in a permission set or profile.

For each consumption card, you can already view reports on overall usage for intervals of 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or 90 days. For example, here’s the view for the last 90 days for Data Cloud Services Credits.

View Usage by Org
Whether you’ve got a single org, sandboxes, or a multiorg Data Cloud One architecture, all your usage gets recorded in your home production org. That can make it hard to tell how changes you make impact your org or sort out the origin of new credit consumption.
Digital Wallet makes it easier by letting you drill down to view usage by org. You can drill down to see usage per sandbox and differentiate between sandbox and production org usage within a single Data Cloud. If you’re using Data Cloud One, you can drill down to identify usage in a specific Data Cloud One companion org.

Enhancements in Progress
We know you want more, and our engineering teams have been working hard to build the enhancements you’ve been waiting for. Soon, we’ll release updates that enhance the Digital Wallet interface and let you access your data more directly so you can build your own reports and dashboards.
Get Reports Built on Usage Data
Imagine you could find out exactly how much usage was generated by a specific calculated insight, segment, or data transform. Reports like the ones shown here can help.
Data about your usage will soon be available in out-of-the-box Salesforce reports and dashboards. We’re providing several reports that customers frequently ask for.

Data in these reports is built on the Tenant Billing Usage Event data lake object, which is used in Digital Wallet. Keep in mind that the data available in this DLO is pending usage data. There may be differences between what you see in pending data and the settled usage on your monthly statement.

Resource Type Breakdown
Resource types are groups of usage, such as data streams, calculated insights, and segments. They may combine usage across several types, such as combining both batch transforms and streaming transforms into a Transforms resource type. They can also split usage apart, such as showing batch Calculated Insights and Segment Intelligence usage, which are both included in the Batch Calculated Insights usage type, in separate resource type groups.
Reporting on resource types can help you identify the source of spikes in credits so you can better manage your spend. For example, in the image above, you saw a big spike in Batch Data Ingestion on a specific day.
UI Enhancements
We’re also building new standard functionality in the Digital Wallet interface. We’re working on several updates that let you get more value out of every part of Digital Wallet.
Usage Type Breakdown
We’ll show each interval’s usage as a stacked colored bar chart, breaking down usage for each period into chunks by usage type. For example, a stacked bar on the Data Cloud Data Services consumption card might show that a day’s usage came from Batch Data Ingestion, Data Queries, Batch Data Transforms, and Calculated insights.

The details in this new view are designed to help you better manage your consumption. Now you can visually compare usage from one day (or other interval) to the next and catch spikes, dips, or other changes in your consumption.
View Usage for a Custom Date Range
Digital Wallet lets you select the interval on which your data is summed. Right now, you can select intervals of 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or 90 days. You’ll soon be able to input a custom date range to view corresponding usage during that time period.

View Usage by Data Space
We know that customers who use data spaces want to be able to understand costs in each data space so they can allocate budget to specific brands, regions, countries, or projects. Updates coming later this year let you break down usage by data space.
In Conclusion
Digital Wallet is already your tool for reviewing near real-time consumption credit usage across Salesforce, but we’re working to make it even better for you. Our new updates will provide more transparency around usage, allowing you to better manage your credits. With resource types, data space filtering, stacked usage views, and custom date ranges, you have more visibility into how your org is generating usage. You can investigate changes in usage, understand usage trends, and compare usage in different parts of your multiorg architecture.
